Employment Law: Federal and California Sources: General Secondary Sources

This guide includes general secondary sources and online government resources. Specialized topics include employment discrimination & harassment, wage & hour law, employee privacy, independent contractors, and workers' compensation.

General Secondary Sources

Secondary sources are a good place to start when you are unfamiliar with a particular area, or would like a good overview.   A good secondary source can save you a lot of time by providing citations to key statutes and caselaw.

This section of the guide is divided into secondary sources that cover federal employment law or the laws of more than one state, and secondary sources that focus on California employment law.  In each section, the materials listed contain links to the UCLA Hugh & Hazel Darling Law Library Catalog, and to the legal databases Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg Law.  You must have a Westlaw, LexisNexis or Bloomberg Law password in order to access the materials in those databases.

Also, some of the databases are licensed only by the law school (for example, CEB's OnLaw); these resources will have the note "Law School Only."
