Welcome to The Hugh & Hazel Darling Law Library's California Bar Exam research guide! In the following pages, you will find links to CA bar exam materials, along with suggestions for steps you can take to prepare for the bar exam. The guide begins by providing overviews of the California Bar Exam and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE). Next, guidance is provided for steps that you should take while in law school, along with a checklist. The guide then provides links and information for studying for the bar, including commercial review courses, free materials, and books. The final tab provides information about the delivery of results for the exam and steps to take after passing the exam.
With some planning, diligence, and confidence in your abilities, you can pass the bar exam! You're already off to a great start as a UCLA law student: according to the State Bar of California, approximately 83% of UCLA Law's first-time test-takers who sat for the July 2018 Bar Exam passed the exam, compared to the statewide average of 54.9%.
UCLA Law students, please keep your eyes out for a Student Services Bar Exam & Moral Character Workshop held in the fall.
