The Permanent Court of International Justice was the precursor to the International Court of Justice. Established in 1922, it was associated with, though not a part of, the League of Nations. It was dissolved in 1946.

The European Court of Justice decides cases arising from EU law including, but not limited to, disputes about interpretation and application of treaties and/or failure to implement EU legislation. It may decide cases arising between member states, EU institutions, businesses, and individuals. Its decisions are binding.
