So You've Taken the Exam . . . Now What?

The CA Bar provides exam statistics including passage rates for first-time takers, repeat takers, and by law school type. Results for the July Bar Exam will be mailed in mid-November. On the date results are mailed, they will also be available on the State Bar's website. You can see your admission status by visiting the Exam Results Information webpage.

Students who pass the Bar Exam are permitted to take the attorney's oath of office generally on or after the date on which the exam results are made available. You may take the attorney's oath of office before a Judge, Justice, or Clerk of a Court of Record, State Bar Board of Governors Member, Commanding Officer (if in the military), the American Counsul (if in a foreign country), or anyone authorized to administered oaths. The UCLA School of Law hosts a California Bar Swearing-In Ceremony sponsored by the Alumni Association in early December for its graduates who pass the July bar examination.

NOTE: You will not be admitted to practice until you have taken the attorney's oath of office. Moreover, the State Bar will not enroll you as an attorney until your completed membership enrollment card is received.
